It's hard to know what to do with your SOXL for now since it is 3X leveraged, but even a 10% market pullback from here will be brutal.  You are still sitting on big gains still right?  I sold my SOXX a few weeks ago as you know.  It just ran too fast.  It's a great ETF and FWIW here is my plan going forward.  If the techs get hurt much more I will start averaging into SOXX.  I have an entry target.  Whatever month the market stabilizes I'll get a little bold and gradually flip a little into SOXL and try to score.  I'll never see a 5X gain on SOXL because I will be booking profits into something that will feed me income until I die.  Your strategerie may vary.    

For now my port is down 1% this week.  I sleep better with some risk management.

Here's where I run into my taxation problem. This is all in taxable accounts. Remember when I made the mistake of doing some rebalancing earlier this year, forgetting that it's the taxable and not the ROTH? And it was a short-term gain too. SOXL likewise if I sold right now would be a short-term gain, and I'm supposed to be selling off a lot of my company stock which although a long-term gain I need to do in large amounts.

I think I'll just live through this. Back last March I watched TECL drop from $330 to $80 per share in my ROTH. It hurt, but it was back in 4 months.

You gotta do what makes sense for you.  I'll be surprised if chips aren't in good shape in a few months.  SOXX definitely isn't speculative junk.  The very best comprise the majority.  There is already a chip shortage and 5G will start bringing smart everything to the home.  Things might be fine in a few weeks for all we know.  I'm not expecting a sharp bounce higher in days but you never know.  The market will just have accept rates aren't staying at near zero forever while we print trillions of new dollars without so severe FED intervention.  Historically these rates are nothing like high anyway.  The market is just spoiled and ran valuations up.  Companies that already refinanced their bonds are going to be glad they did.  The rest will have to adjust.  Balance sheets matter eventually.

Oh there is plenty of dotcom level foolishness going on right now lol, but that isn't SOXX.  SOXX is very heavy into the good stuff as you know.  You have three weeks to sort out your portfolio allocation for new money.  I wouldn't suggest you match your port to mine, but trapped in a 3X leveraged fund due to taxes, and getting your face tore off when no major index is anywhere near down 10% doesn't need to happen.  Your new IRA is going to make it a LOT easier to dodge some pain if you choose to gamble some.

Sadly it's not just my leveraged funds.  My company stock dropped like a stone too.  I'm very much looking forward to building a resilient portfolio in March & April.  So ... stay tuned!

Yeah, I've gotten whacked too. A good reminder why I chose dividend growth investing over speculative growth investing for my main public portfolio, and do the speculative trading on the side in a smaller IRA.

I'm still up 33% on GBTC, 18% on PACB and 5% on NTLA, but the others all turned to losses.

A trader I am not.

Nor am I.  I enjoy swing trading as long as I can rely on some valuation to keep my from worrying about it if I end up needing to hold.  The market is not attracted to fundamental valuation, and hasn't been for awhile.  For 100s of companies,  share prices are currently just random numbers that come with a narrative.  You often have to be willing to sell in a couple days as the gamblers abandon a position for the next story of the week.  I'm not good at knowing when to jump.  

It does make it harder to deploy new funds in actual long-term investments.  There is always a sector down somewhere though.  I still enjoy reading about the trading of specs here.  I'll play just a little, but rarely with much money.

Added a few more shares to TSM today.  Earnings dip opportunities are starting to get reliable, even when those numbers are good.  Except when it isn't.  I traded TXRH a month ago though I thought it was ahead of itself.  It ran up 10pts more fairly quick, significantly missed earnings, then ran up another 7% or so for a few days.  I closed position while I could.

Added more PCG and AMRX.
