Uncle Joe gave us a buying opportunity in railroad stocks.
I bought my first NSC shares. I still think the entry price is damn high, then again that seems to have been the trend for these for the past several years. But I'm ok starting to nibble here, larger purchases will have to wait.
I have accepted the fact that about every good stock I own or care to own will be targeted with political paper at some point.  I have also decided that when railroad stocks are truly cheap my port will be melting so I just add slowly.

Before the market has it's next mood swing I closed some option that got profitable fast.  Multiple contracts in WY and HAS.  Thanks to Ken for HAS.  That one wasn't even on my radar before you mentioned it.  The nieces and nephews Christmas toys are paid for now.  Still have a few long shares and wish I had bought more a few weeks ago.  It does look like a good DGI stock to hold.
I don't own HAS. Toys to me are a a fad. You get 1-2 hot toys a year and the rest sits on shelves.  Kids now a days don't even play with toys anymore. Its all games on the IPAD, Fortnite or Roblox.

The big generator for Hasbro is Magic the Gathering. Where would the growth be without the card business??  NERF is not as popular as it was 2 years ago. My kids and friends use to love it and play every day. They lost interest and haven't picked up one in years. And my kids' are 7.8, 11 and 14.

HAS looks good but I just don't trust it especially with the shutdown over and kids will be doing other things now and the toy industry will slow.

But that's just my opinion.
I'll just find a place to invest my locked in fad profits now.  I'll be back on a hard dip.
Closed out profitable options in RUN again. Sold a few new puts in CSIQ. I'll be sad when the solar swings end. No sign of it happening soon.
Is there a spec subforum on here where people can talk about various spec stocks? I've played with more spec stocks as of late.

I know this forum is primarily about dividend growth stocks but i feel like we could get more traffic by broadening it a little. I havent found a forum online that is an all in one investing forum and i feel like if you could do it right it could be lucrative.  A subsection for dividend growth, a subsection for spec, a subsection for index funds, options, 401k questions, tax questions, basically anything having to do with money and/or investing.

i may not post much but I read this thread basically everyday as it seems to be a good mix. I'm just thinking out loud after reading about the possibility of someone new running this site. I have no experience in that field but i would like to have one place to talk and share ideas in all things investing.

back on topic of what i bought today...i picked up some more ABBV. Days like today have me conflicted.  It's nice seeing 99% of my portfolio green but it just means my avg cost is only going up lol

Dude I am a charter member of ENPH.  I made a few hundred a month the past year selling short puts while it ran.  I have a few short puts that are WAY in the money after this bloodbath.  I can only roll forward so much before I own $140 shares.   Big Grin  I said here many times I was good with adding a real position starting at $125.  If I am honest I need ENPH to head back to $120ish to be back to even.  I wasn;t aggressive enough when it was truly cheap.  I'll add shares to my growthy port in the meantime.

Yeah yeah. What ever floats your boat  Big Grin lol
I am very good with owning ENPH long-term.  How happy I am in the end very much depends on the entry.  We'll see where the bottom is soon enough.

Well me too. Got in at $108.90  Big Grin

This will be a big winner for years to come.  You have to add at some point, so why not today. I don't worry about making a few $ here and there  Big Grin . I'm in to win it lol

Are we having fun today  Big Grin

-You are on the spec thread now for practical purposes.  There are others and you may start your own if you wish.

-There really is no "forum takeover planned".  It just needs moderation as Kerim has personal issues to contend with.  Important stuff like family illnesses.  I'm confident it will remain a DGI forum.  New members have not been able to join and that is a problem.

If any of that sounded like I was scolding you not my intent at all.  Post away, start threads, whatever you like.  Almost all of us have a side game to go with our DGI holdings.  Not really a place to spam daily with tickers we found on the net without research, but we are all open to hearing about the next Amazon you found. Smile

Sold a SOFI put. Need to recharge my SPEC but most of it needs to dip a little more.
My overall E*Trade portfolio is only about 1/4 DGI, and I'm not shy about discussing my 3x ETFs, so please go ahead and discuss any speculatives you'd like. I think TTD is my biggest stock holding for instance.

Back to Hasbro, much more than just a toy company.
- Yes, Magic the Gathering & Pokemon are big money makers and will always be
- The board game hobby is growing, and they have some star titles like Betrayal at House on the Hill and the whole Axis & Allies line
- D&D 5th edition is selling like hot cakes.
- Nerf as mentioned has been very big for them

I don't own any right now, but next year when new money arrives I hope to.

no worries i guess i should've worded it a little different and i definitely didn't intend to insinuate a hostile take over or that this forum needed to completely change. i was more just thinking out loud how i wish there was a one stop shop forum.

Now that would require some serious moderation done in volume lol.  We are definitely open to SPEC research though and we try to participate.  There are only about 7-8 of us that post daily.  Need to get that fixed.  There are a LOT of lurkers that would probably join if it wasn't so difficult.  I;m sure you read the comments.  We invite friends and they can't get in.  Smile
yea. i need to make a concerted effort to post more.  i lurk everyday. Then again i dont make a ton of moves and dont do options. Eventually I'll learn.

Wait for a dip and start nibbling.  After Christmas is when the toy stocks pullback so don't enter on the annual peak.  Smile  It will go flat a few times per year in a good year, like early summertime.  It doesn't have to be the perfect stock ever, but I can't think of a better stock for YOU.  A CNBC headline headline isn't gong to make you nervous about their mid-long-term plans.  Kind of like my VSTO.  I target shoot and I love my Davy Crockett black powder toys.  I know reality and some dude in a suit on TV won't scare me out when I know their books and they can't keep the shelves half full for over a year now.  It really is the same thing.  Invest some of your money in what you truly know.  Hold and worry about your other holdings.

This will be a big winner for years to come.  You have to add at some point, so why not today. I don't worry about making a few $ here and there  Big Grin . I'm in to win it lol

Are we having fun today  Big Grin

Please do post more.  Start a thread about whatever financial.  I didn't play options in a real way until about five years ago when I got control of my 401K.  Generally speaking it requires capital to do it in a conservative manner.  I tried the low capital option gambling angle 25 years ago.  Now I take their money.  There is no hurry to learn options but understand them before you try it.

I haven't researched it.  Hadn't heard of it until you and Otter were discussing it last week.  I am trying to not add too many more new names.  We'll see how long that lasts.  Smile

What I need is for tech to get hammered for real again, but this market is resilient.

Very small trades this morning.  Added a few shares to DG-ARKF  Sold a few SLV puts.

Yeah yeah. What ever floats your boat  Big Grin lol

Totally agreed.  So I've decided my next crop of acquisitions are all companies I use every day.
 • Apple - my computer, my phone, my tablet, iTunes, etc.
 • Disney - Marvel, Star Wars, and maybe I'll even return to the theme park, plus the cruise lines are great. Been really enjoying Disney Plus streaming service
 • Microsoft - Powers my work laptop
 • Amazon - where I shop the most; covers Whole Foods as well, and I've been using the streaming service
 • Facebook - browse it often
 • Exxon-Mobil - where I get my gas.  I really do think they locate their stations in the most ideal spots compared to others
 • Hasbro - D&D, Axis & Allies, board games, etc.
 • Verizon - both my cable and my phone
 • CVS - I shop there almost every day.  I prefer it to Walgreens
 • Capital One Financial - my bank
 • Mastercard - one of my 2 cards.  Discover isn't public.  I dropped my Visa card when they couldn't handle fraud properly
 • Morgan Stanley - home of my company stock, and they bought E*Trade.  Supposedly my accounts will merge next year.
 • Cisco - all the VPN and meeting software we use at work
 • General Mills - Cheerios!
 • Proctor & Gamble - Head & Shoulders, probably lots of other things I take for granted.
 • Netflix - still the best streaming service
Panera is no longer public.  I have Starbucks.  I can't think of any other restaurants I regularly go to that are public.  Target & Home Depot are already in the fold too.  I'm sure other companies that I use often are out there but this is all that comes to mind for now.

Once I've got all these up at $5000+, I can explore other stocks like CP, possibly the controversial LYB, CMI, MGA, etc.
