You had me until you said on the way up  Big Grin

I hope we can hold these gains today. We could all use a positive day. Any positive in general

BA back up to $116 pre/market. I still haven’t bought it. My 52 week low list is a mile long. Can’t buy them all lol

Absolutely, the buy list is a mile long!

Since I very rarely sell, the last two sells I remember was Target and Google--both mistakes...biggest most financial mistake was RedHat....Oh...I did sell IBM just don't remember when. I don't think I had any sells in the last three maybe 4 years--I can't remember.

I guess another way of looking at this situation is that I'm buying through it, there's a beginning--a middle--and a end...history has proven it makes a "V" it might be a jagged lop-sided "V" but it's usually a "V" a very choppy "V"....That's why I buy through it.
Depends on one's definition of a V.  The two major bear markets of my investing career took a long time to return to a new SP500 ATH.   The tech bubble took about 7 years and the GFC about 6 years.  I was born at the perfect time to catch three major bear markets before age 60.  Investing more money as you are doing Ray is the only thing that saved me. This is the stuff that wrecks retirement plans if you get scared out or your asset allocations are inappropriate.  I remember when there was a big push to invest the Social Security funds in equities.  Yeah maybe that's not a great idea since 401Ks are already there for most.

Fenders, yes I don't stop...right through it! I've always told my friends in times like this, the down times,, this is when we make our real money.

I won't sell, I've had multiple friends tell me to sell back in 2008/09 and a couple that told me to sell recently. Wealth Preservation they call it--no way man--nose to the grinding stone--as long as money comes in I buy.

Oh...this time it's different...

Okay....

Yes, you have to or you lose years just getting back to even.  You have to buy your way back toeven initially.  The 2000s would have been almost a lost decade.  The V-bottom recovery you describe is actually quite rare when it's a legitimate >20% bear.  Who knows what we are a getting this time.

I don't think it's going to be a quick V but if it follows history to a point it has a greater chance to be a V type recession/market--imho--a choppy V.

I might be wrong, but concerning recession types the V shaped recession might be the most common.

We have the

V-shaped recession

U-shaped recession

W-shaped recession

L-shaped recession (which would classify the Great Depression)

Of course, we can have combo type recessions or a crazy DoubleW-shaped recession.

Who knows what this is going to be, it's a virus? We will beat this virus, there is going to be a recovery--in the mean time this is when we make our money in the market.

Buying through it.
Added a bit of OMC
I think I might put a share of a few stocks in my port today just to entertain myself and put them in my face. That tends to cause me to keep a much closer eye on a stock. There are so many stocks to choose from right now at reasonable valuations but I want to stick with high quality with most of my port for now. Hoping for a price drop for a real entry of course, but I think if they ever get truly undervalued something bad happened and I won't want them anyway.

MSFT-KO for sure.

Probably looking for another Consumer Staple and a Tech.
Initiated a new position in MCBC
I know it’s not a dividend stock but FB looks very interesting. No position yet. We all know everyone is bored at home and spending hours on line. FB is not expensive at all. Any takers?

I'd hold that thought.  I saw an interview a few days ago and ad revenues are getting hit now.  I think it gets a little cheaper soon.  Solid company though. People may be home but company budgets for everything are getting hit. It seems there is always a reason to not buy anything yet lol.

I don’t agree with all lol. Sure the advertising will take hit since companies are scaling back but FB does do much more. How else are people going to post about all the drinking there doing with their kids home from school ?  FB is the only business making money right now along with. Zoom, Netflix, Amazon Chick Fil a and MCD lol

Also how many times have we all missed out on getting FB on a pullback?  I can’t count how many times. Take guru and buy 2 shares for now. I wish I did that when she bought ULTA lol

And correct don’t buy anything now. Another 20-25% correction is coming.. Keep that cash on hand!!

Why did you ask then?  Back up the truck buddy!!! Just playin. I think I'd wait for at least one seriously down day. 140s seem very likely for FB when the market is panicking again, and it will. Might be in an hour lol.
Added a bit of WPC
I didn't expect an up day. Still fading almost anything that dares rally 10%+ from my recent purchase price. Sold a little CAT and D today. I look forward to lowering my basis if another dip comes soon which I expect. I missed the RTN dip at the open. I like it well enough for a long-term hold here. I expect more chances market wide as the virus approaches a peak. Might buy another SPY put today.

Eric, good decision dumping CBRL on the Div cut announcement. I did the same. I will definitely average back in as I intend to hold it long-term, but already 30% down so it was a very good move.

Same here. I was hoping for another buying opportunity, still have plenty of cash. In the mean time I sold some JNJ on the good news.
