You are facing our "old rookie" tonight. He had amazing minor league stats. Looks competent to pitch at MLB so far. A long way to the playoffs but the Yanks and Rays are on fire. A tough path to get through.

P.S. And I rather enjoyed Sano's 490ft HR tonight. That might be the longest of the season? With Nellie gone to the Rays we have 6+ sub .250 hitters in the lineup every night but Sano has some monster power to entertain us.
Looks like the Sox are going to lose this one. Ah, well. 490 feet, wow! I was watching tv with my daughter and didn't watch the game; just checked the box score now.
The replay is worth watching. I've never seen a ball clear those Fenway billboards like that. Boston announcers said 495ft.

Wow I wonder where it landed.  Wouldn't be the first time a car in the adjacent parking garage got damaged. That's assuming it ever landed; it may have gone into orbit.
The Red Sox are drowning in Covid cases. Now Chris Sale is out. I also know they haven't reached 85% vaccination as a team. Such a shame. We are still in the lead for the AL Wild Card but at this rate we'll fall fast. They have no idea who will be the starting pitchers the next couple of games.

AL wildcard race will be tight.  NY let the Sox back in the lead while the Jays are on a run.  A's are not out of it either.

I have to say, I thought the Red Sox were done for, and here we are, roaring back to the top of the wild card standings.  Barring a colossal meltdown, I better get ready for a nail-biting winner-take-all game two weeks from today.
My White Sox are puzzling. The bullpen, which was to be their strength all season, was strengthened at the trading deadline and has been their Achilles Heel since.

Scoring 10 runs one day then 1 or 2 runs for the next game or 2.

If they put it together for a stretch, hopefully in the playoffs, I don't think that they can be beaten.

As Yogi might say.... pitching is 50% physical and 75% mental.   Big Grin  Off an on like a light switch and it seems to be contagious on a team at times.

I'll tell you what you already know.  The White Sox have to get the pitching straightened out soon.  Your offense is solid, but when the playoffs come you aren't facing any #5 starters.  Closers may appear in the 8th inning etc.  Sometimes you can count on an offense to get you through, but that's not how it usually works out.

Off topic but I cringe when one of the teams I like signs a free agent stud pitcher to a zillion dollar 6 year deal.  That seems to work out about 30% of the time past year two.
And it looks like the NL is bringing a 100 game winner as a wildcard. That's surely been done before but it has to be somewhat rare. The NL West is just dominant this year.

Even if the Red Sox win the wild card game, I don't see them going far in the playoffs, but as far as the World Series goes, it looks like an NL year.  The Brewers, Giants, and Dodgers are scary!  I'm guessing the Astros will be the AL representative.
