And just like that, the Twins are in 3rd place!
The Twins are a third place kinda team so far.
How about Kyle Schwarber? The Cubs dumped him for good reason so it's not about that. He has hit .250 exactly once since the 2015 post season heroics. He isn't just on fire for a couple days, he is setting records. 16HRs in 18 games ties a few of the iconic bombers like Bonds. He'll be back to striking out soon enough most likely but I wish him luck while it lasts. Record chases are fun.

I hadn't even heard about it until you posted this.  Wow!!!  Last 18 games ... hmmm... coincides with sticky substances ban.  Looks like he happened to run into a consecutive run of pitchers who had relied on it.

I wonder if we'll see more than just Schwarber start to have amazing runs.

I don't know.  It will end as fast as it started of course but he is on fire.  They put him in the leadoff spot which made no sense.  He is big and slow and doesn't hit for average or OB%.  He should have been fearing his career was about to end.  He'll be able to get a gig for a few more years now.  Good team player and I am cheering for him.

Closer to last than 3rd right now.

I'm afraid so.  We were already struggling and now Buxton is gone.  Our fate is probably sealed for this season.  Winning two games in a row will be feat.  Especially if we sell any talent.  I could see them selling Cruz because their is no contract to worry about.
Twins only a half game out of third place. Keepin' the faith. Smile
No doubter HR from Vlad JR in the Allstar game. That would have been bouncing on the street at a lot of parks.
He crushed it. If he can stay away from injuries, he might end up being better than his dad.

He'll have to stay healthy.  Vlad Sr put up some big numbers.  He was one of my favorites to watch and he never played for a team I followed.  Everybody knows he was a power hitter but until just now I didn't realize he batted .320+ seven times.  Very short list of power hitters that ever did that.  I liked him because he always had that happy islander spirit and accent.  I remember an interview long ago.  He really didn't strike out much but he was a free swinger.  He was being challenged for swinging at some bad pitches out of the strike zone.  He just laughed and basically said "I swing if I think I can hit it because nobody ever "walked" off the island."   Smile   Pujols was similar in approach.  He had a great eye but if you tried to pitch around him when it mattered  I can't count how many times I saw him put a pitch 10 inches off the ground about 10 rows deep in the outfield seats. The real hitters with heart know they aren't being paid to trot down to first base because it's easy. I realize you know all that Chad. I just have a special appreciation for the true competitors that realize they are supposed to make it happen.
Loved watching Vlad Sr play. So happy the one year he played for us, even if only so he wasn't killing us while he was an Angel. Next to last year playing and he still put up great numbers. Unlike so many others, he was still producing at a high level when he retired. Didn't want to drag out his career a few more years to just bulk up his stats. At least he got his only World Series appearance with us.
