What Did You Buy Today?
MRK new 52 week low today. Wow! Anyone own the name or buying?
I own MRK, bought at $51 and change a while back, still haven't figured out why the sharp decline, will see if it's worth adding more.

Any ideas?

Merck & Co. said a cyberattack over the summer caused temporary production shutdowns and cut sales by at least $135 million in the third quarter, highlighting the very-real impacts virtual attacks can have on company results.

The company posted a loss of $56 million, or 2 cents a share, compared with a profit of $2.18 billion, or 78 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. On an adjusted basis, excluding certain items, earnings per share rose to $1.11 from $1.07.

That's the news that started the downfall.
Initiated new positions in $TXN $AMGN $DPZ and $HD ... just footnotes in my portfolio at the moment but wanted to get the placeholders in there for future adds. Will be revisiting the stock universe in the coming weeks and adding more placeholder positions as quality companies are identified.

I added a bit to OHI and CMI this morning.
Added to QCOM and MRK and let's hope for the best...
Bought QCOM as well. The panic selling today seemed overblown

I've been adding to Dominion Resources and Exxon when they were below $80.

Been quite the roller coaster with QCOM and OHI the last 3 years for me.  Not been my favorite companies to own as they are my worst performers along with GE and COP.

My watch list includes Merck, AT&T, Disney, Starbucks, Kimberly Clark, and O or VTR.
Picked up 101 shares of Apple Hospitality REIT.
Added to HD and PM and Sold out of CVX

I like the HD and PM buy, but question the selling of CVX.

Oil is just starting to rise and recently hit $55. Storage is drawing hard in the U.S. and globally, which will lead to even higher crude prices.

CVX is also finishing up with some big capex projects that will improve cash flows and is also aggressively growing production in the Permian.

You held on this long, why sell now?

Was thinking the same thing.  I've owned CVX for maybe a decade, and the oil majors are very cyclical.  That comes with the territory, but usually works out great in the long run.  If you are going to trade CVX, why sell at the bottom?
