Hi all,
Grab some popcorn and enjoy the story.
On Friday I went down to Westchester County New York for a Bar Mitzvah, and I left on Saturday evening. On my way back, I lost Automatic Transmission. I couldn't get above 40 miles per hour, and the AT light went on. I pulled over to the side of the highway, turned the car off, turned it back on, and it started smoking and heated up. I turned it back off right away.
I called AAA but they couldn't service that road. They gave me the number of a towing company. That towing company gave me another towing company. That towing company said to call the cops, so I did. The police arrived, then called the previous towing company. I was towed to White Plains. In White Plains I called AAA back, and we came up with the plan that I get towed to the Bronx, since there is a Pep Boys open on Sunday who might be able to fix my car, and a motel right nearby it for me to stay the night.
I arrived at the motel and instantly I realized what I was in for. The blue light shining over the bed, the copious amount of mirrors, the porn playing on the tv - it was a bordello. Sure enough, around midnight, the rooms all around me become "active" with noises. What a night.
Sunday arrived, and Pep Boys as it turns out, do not handle transmission issues. I apparently need Aamco for that. I get towed back to White Plains, drop my car key off in the Aamco slot, and stay at a friend's place.
Aamco does not get to my car on Monday. Yesterday rolls around, and it looks like they are going to need at least a week to fix my car. My friends take me to the Amtrak station in Stamford. Now, this is the only good part of the experience, as it costs me only $33 to travel from Stamford to the Rte 128 station in Westwood Mass where my parents pick me up.
So I'm home now, carless, and will have to travel back in a week or so to get my car, and I will have to sink another $3k or so into it before this adventure comes to a close.
Grab some popcorn and enjoy the story.
