KSU is a good rail that was very expensive. The railroad deck just got reshuffled. I only own UNP at the moment. Time for more research. I'll probably add something to the sector soon.
I have a ton of cash after Friday's option expiration. Gonna be tough not to force trades but cash really is trash in excess with inflation almost a certainty.
Curious to see what ideas your research comes up with.
I do love the idea of owning a railroad company but damn those valuations have been through the roof for a while now!
I already know what I am going to learn/confirm. They will remain overvalued. The US economy is going to hyperventilate coming out of the rona. Too much pent up demand and we just added stimulus juice. Our Prez (or whomever he is listening to), is going to continue to be anti-pipeline. It's just going to cause oil to move by rail. Add that to other hot commodities they are moving like grain. I'll add a few shares now and then on down days. I won't be afraid to trim a bit if they spike 20% too fast. Only way rails get wrecked is if the market gets wrecked and I have no prediction on that date. Dividends are OK not great in the meantime.
The popular industrials are making the rails look cheap now. This seems like a game of whatever is less overvalued is hot this month. As far as anything remotely tied to fundamentals anyway.

Sold 110 shares of NEE. That is a fairly big move for me. I just got assigned some additional shares selling options before the hard dip. NEE will remain a top 5 core position but I like the risk reward on WEC MUCH better over the next year or two. NEE is the green UTE market darling for sure , and I am confident WEC is executing a similar business plan more efficiently. NEE PE gives me no comfort based on their performance lately that the market ignores for now. Not trying to scare anybody out of their NEE position for sure. But I am up huge but was in a little too deep and I know there is better risk/reward today.

That's a shocker to me. NEE is one the best companies you can buy and hold. I actually added more under $71. It's now my 3rd largest holding. I have WEC as well but only 25 shares. I like that company very much and will add back around $80 if we get there again.
I made a few moves today. Added a few UNP, CP, XOM, BP, NEE, JPM and BTI

I was way over weight NEE and careful with my words so as not to scare anyone out. I have a ton of UTEs and NEE PE is crazy high while earning reports have been mediocre compared to major peers. Just balancing out the risk reward. That's just what I do when huge portions are overvalued. I go to sleep at night listening to UTE conference calls. I know what they are up to next. I'll still be smiling if NEE moon shots.

I haven't researched it. Hadn't heard of it until you and Otter were discussing it last week. I am trying to not add too many more new names. We'll see how long that lasts.
What I need is for tech to get hammered for real again, but this market is resilient.
Very small trades this morning. Added a few shares to DG-ARKF Sold a few SLV puts.

Ha! Neat idea. I took a look at all 4, and I'm very impressed by RIO and I think you are catching it "on the dip".

I have a very unscientific method of just buying a little of whatever in my portfolio is down for the day.

LMAO
There is no doubt in my mind that you'd get no worse short-term pick advice from a chimp than me. I like to tell myself I have the edge if we are talking longer term though lol.

I picked up some RIO myself right at the end of the day. 5.65% yield and 2.5 times performance in the last 5 years I couldn't resist. Apparently it only pays dividends twice a year, and I missed the first half ex-div date, but I project that by Q4 I'll be up to $600/quarter in dividends (woohoo!).

Bought MTB on the dip. Great bank, great dividend and the acquisition of People Bank last month was very positive. Anyone Own it?

In my HSA, sold JNJ and I've decided to go ETF-only there. Started positions in SOXX, VOO, and ARKW.
