What Did You Buy Today?
Did I catch the GEVO news correctly? Did they announce they were selling new shares for $8, just a few hours after the stock hitting $8 for the first time? That's a pretty good trick. Smile

Don't hate on me lol. I have no idea what they even do.

Then shut your mouth  Big Grin

I added more today at $8.21. Lots of companies do this and continue to hit new highs. GEVO will be no different. Wont surprise me if it’s $12 next week lol.

Maybe you should look under the company’s profile and see what they do. It may surprise you ?

Duh, I know what they do now.  They print new shares for people to buy and it's clearly working.  We can buy them with the fake money the FED is printing so it's all good.  Big Grin

I should mail it now before I forget lol.  I didn't even remember who was hyping the stock.  I just recognized the ticker from here.  If one of our highly profitable companies did that I doubt they would get by with it.
Sold 3 02/19/21 GME Puts with $20 strike for $0.84/contract. ~$250 income (on $6,000 cash secured, so 4% yield over 30 days, equivalent to a 50% annualized yield) for less than a month's risk of a 50% drop in a meme stock with an improved balance sheet, activist investor/board member pushing continued 300+% online platform sales growth, heading into a new console cycle with lots of pent-up demand.
First "big" move I've made in quite a while, bought a ton of BTI. P/E is low, extremely profitable, low payout ratio, high yield.
F and GM breaking out. Who would have thought lol

I added CGC and UPS

Can someone please explain this EV hype train to me?

F & GM makes little money on every car sold, they make up for it with profits from their pickup truck sales.

The auto business is a highly cyclical, highly competitive, and low margin business.

Why will that still not be the case with EV's? Are they magically more profitable for car makers than ICE cars are?

Damn, you are starting to sold old lol.  Fundamentals do not matter in this phase of the bull market.  You have seen this movie before.  It might last three more weeks, or maybe three years.  Stick to your plan, always keep some money at risk, and mock the hypesters every chance you get while we wait for portfolio Armageddon.  Smile

Most are notprofitablle yet. Investors today are buying EV stocks in expectation of future profitability as the world's auto fleet transitions away from fossil fuels. Excitement in the sector isn't necessarily unfounded. Electric vehicles really are a growth market.
"When it comes to renewable energy, this is not something that happens years in the future. It's happening today," Already, about one in 40 new cars is electric. But that number grows every year, and 20% or more of all new car sales will likely be electric by 2030.

So the growth is real and I believe we are getting in at the ground level here. Not to mention Biden is in favor of this sector. So the president is in their corner.

They are a ton of names to buy in this industry, but like all industries you have to be selective.
