What Did You Buy Today?
I put my money where my mouth is, and bought another 25 shares of XOM this morning.
Finally started a position in MGA this morning with my spare cash at 80 shares. I figure I've spent enough time looking at it already.

It's worth noting that Morningstar hates it and thinks it's worth $38. They say that the car parts business has no moat, and is too competitive for anyone's profits to be safe since routine price decreases are expected from the auto companies. Any innovations and cost cuts MGA can make are just running to stand still. However M* is the only contrarian on this one. By any other yardstick they are undervalued. Warren Buffett is betting big on the auto industry by buying dealerships. I'll hold for at least a year for multiple expansion, and then reassess.

Very interesting, I would like to add some XOM & COP but am waiting for a little lower. Eric called the bottom a little bit ago but I didn't quite have the cash. Good for you, I'm close behind.
XOM and AXP.

I purchased JNJ on Thursday in the low 99's. This is my first ever purchase, my DGI journey begins! Big Grin

I think JNJ is slightly overvalued, but I think in 30-40 years I will be glad I started off with such an excellent company.

Congratulations! And agree. There are not a lot of bargains out there right now, and JNJ certainly feels to me like it is in "fairly valued" or "not much overvalued" territory, so I think that this a great first buy.

Congrats on your first buy. Doesn't get any more blue chip than J&J. Well done!

Not a purchase, but thought I'd share...

Sold my position in Medtronic (MDT) as the Ireland tax inversion was causing me to get charged 20% in Irish dividend withholding taxes - even though Canadian residents are supposed to get the 0% treatment. After some back-and-forth with my broker, I decided to make my life easier during tax season and sold this position.
