Dividend Announcement Thread!
Despite the 47% fall in H1 profit, BHP still will raise its interim dividend by 5% to $0.62/share and pledges to maintain or increase its dividend even after a proposed de-merger later this year which will see BHP hive off some unwanted assets into the separate South32 company that analysts estimate will be worth ~$15B.

Magna is a gem. The company is still severely undervalued (PE 12, Forward PE 10, PEG 0.76). Recently they reduced their forward guidance for 2015, but for the long term, its a great play.
Last week they sold their battery business to Samsung (who apparently wants it to get into the car industry possibly competing Apple) and Apple has been rumored to be in talks with Magna's Austrian arm Magna-Steyr about partnership to build Apple's electric car since Magna already has the resources and the technical know-how building cars for almost every major auto manufacturer in the world.

Magna is also a play on the European economy, btw.

  • Ensco (NYSE:ESV) slashes its quarterly dividend by 80% to $0.15/share to improve capital management flexibility in market downturn.
  • Forward yield 2.26%.
  • The dividend is payable on March 20, with stockholders on record of Mar 9.

Just as I was expecting. The stock was already beaten down and the oil market is still in turmoil.

Not happy about it but it's a small, speculative portion of the wife's portfolio. Willing to hold because this should boost their financial picture coming out of the oil slump -- they should still have a lower debt/equity ratio than most of their competitors, the fleet (especially deepwater submersibles) should be amongst the newest in the field and they should still have the best reputation for service in their field. Have to watch the debt as this continues.

If it eliminates the dividend completely, then we'd have to be out but I'm not expecting that right now.

Loving my Ross Stores!

The Company announced that its Board of Directors recently approved a program to repurchase $1.4 billion of its common stock over the next two years through fiscal 2016. At recent stock prices, this new authorization represents about 7% of the Company's total market value and a 27% increase over the prior two-year $1.1 billion authorization that was completed in January 2015.

The Board also recently approved an increase in the quarterly cash dividend to $.235 per share, up 18% on top of an 18% increase in the prior year. This higher quarterly dividend is payable on March 31, 2015 to stockholders of record as of March 9, 2015.

Lloy restart their dividend for first time since 2008. Only 0.75p a share but this is the first step to paying out 70% of their profits like they used to.

Chuffed!
