Dividend Announcement Thread! - Kerim - 03-13-2014
We had a few requests for a thread dedicated to dividend increase announcements, so here we go. I'll make this a "sticky" so that it appears at the top of the "individual stocks" section. Of course we can and should continue to discuss individual stocks -- including their dividend announcements and raises -- in the individual company threads, but this should serve as a nice running tally of dividend raises across companies.
Thanks also to EricL, who is keeping a spreadsheet of these dividend raises, which you can access with this link.

General Mills Dividend Raise - Dexter - 03-14-2014
GIS increased their dividend from .38 to .41 per share, a 7.89% increase.
The EX date is 04/08/2014.

Thanks for the spreadsheet and the thread! I'm not sure how far back you want on the spreadsheet, but PEP, KO and DLR all increased in February.

I've added a column for Ex Date to the spreadsheet. Do people think its necessary to include Pay Date as well?

I've never tried to time my purchases to the Ex Div date, so I actually find the actual payout date more relevant -- it is our payday! That said, I don't have strong feelings about whether to include either or both.

I maintain a spreadsheet listing each stock I own. Across the top, a column for each month. I record the dividend received each qtr when the company pays its div. If there is an increase I record the %. At year end I total the div for each company and record any increase and % of increase from the previous yr. Every year I add new columns for the next year.
I have a separate spreadsheet to record the annual div paid and the Div Growth % for each stock. This one provides me a quick review of the past 14 yrs (when I started it). At the end of the year I calculate the average div gth % for the number of yrs recorded. This report also shows me if the div gth % trend (steady, dropping or increasing).

Date of the announced increase.
I like putting that in there so I can look at previous years and know when to expect upcoming announcements.
