You in on this one too Fenders ?I haven't researched it. Hadn't heard of it until you and Otter were discussing it last week. I am trying to not add too many more new names. We'll see how long that lasts. (06-18-2021, 10:04 AM)divmenow Wrote:(06-18-2021, 09:49 AM)DividendGarden Wrote: Added to BTI, VIAC, ADBE, AZO, BRK/B, GOOGL. Lots of non-DGI there. I actually did buy Adobe yesterday But aside from NVDA, ADBE, TTD, ABNB, CIK and WEBL, I'm bleeding red. No fun day at all

Join the ENPH club lolDude I am a charter member of ENPH. I made a few hundred a month the past year selling short puts while it ran. I have a few short puts that are WAY in the money after this bloodbath. I can only roll forward so much before I own $140 shares. I said here many times I was good with adding a real position starting at $125. If I am honest I need ENPH to head back to $120ish to be back to even. I wasn;t aggressive enough when it was truly cheap. I'll add shares to my growthy port in the meantime. (06-18-2021, 10:04 AM)divmenow Wrote:You are probably right. I am down about 1% for the week but it's been good for new option sale income. Rolled a lot of puts forward and some down too and won't bore you with the details. Half will expire worthless today so I will have shopping money next week if this continues. I don't see all that much that is truly cheap but added a few shares of WEC-XEL-ALE-UNP. Got a little more serious about HAS today as I am trying to look farther ahead than next month. I have limit orders in to add to many tech holding but I will try to stay firm on my buy prices as it is nothing like a great deal yet. Sold a few new XLE puts as that run isn't dead soon IMO. Trying to remain diversified no matter what the fickle market thinks this week.

So I was just checking I own 38 DGI names. There's a few names I don't own that hope to soon buy on a few more dips.
My question is how many DGI names do you own? I am thinking about trimming STAG. OHI, and AMP and maybe buy some of the others I want like WSO, MED, TSCO and ADM And BTY there are many DGI portfolio's out there, so not all names may be on yours.

I have been slowly adding to them the last week with the dip. Hope they can continue to run up the over valued and no earrings junk so even bigger dips are here I have been looking at TSCO and MED on that list as well. $30 dip in TSCO I may start a position with a few shares today. Also watching BDX and ADM

Can you provide a succinct definition of a DGI stock? I've been working on this myself. Here are some attributes, and I think it's a question of picking some.
Yield - 7.47%, check. 5 year growth of $10k - $21,182.04, check. Dividend increases - let's see 2016: 0.31/share 2017: 0.31/share 2018: 0.33/share in the 4th quarter 2019: back to 0.31/share in Q1, then back up to 0.33/share in Q2, then 0.34/share in Q3, then 0.35/share in Q4 2020: 0.40/share in Q1, then the pandemic hit and they dropped to 0.32/share for Q2 & Q3, then back up to 0.34/share in Q4 2021: 0.37/share in Q1, 0.39/share in Q2 So if we were to include all 3 criteria, it doesn't quite pass the 3rd one, but you can see they are trying
-Very subjective, but a 2% yield, or obvious progress toward that goal with consistent dividend growth for a sustained period of time. Share price appreciation can keep the yield low but hard to disqualify a stock like MSGT or AAPL for that reason. I am confident they will make every attempt to pay a nice dividend growth rate over time.
-Five years is a reasonable minimum period for div growth. That is a lot more impressive if they raise through challenging times. 2009 not equal to 2019. Companies that suspended their dividend thirty days into Covid are now suspect until they improve their balance sheet and commitment to shareholders. -High yield and little or no Div growth in an up market isn't DGI IMO. It's just high yield. DGI companies wouldn't pay a 2% yield if a 7% yield was easy and safe during the next tough markets Doesn't make it a bad investment.

Okay, so I believe then these are the DGI companies I have (yield in parens):
Then there's a bunch below 2%: L3Harris, Lowe's, Oracle, Starbucks, Taiwan Semiconductor, Target, Sherwin Williams. If you count them too I'm at 20. |
