Can you explain your interest in Unity Software?

I was looking through the Conversations on yahoo and this caught my eye: "They have a subscription based way of making money now. When they switch to a royalty based 5% of total revenue of service like Unreal engine sky is limit."

Is that what you are hoping for?

(I don't even understand that sentence anyway)

Thought the chart looked like a decent place to add.

The 5 year chart looks amazingly steady.  Congrats!

It's a great product with a huge market share in a rapidly growing industry. Growth is pretty much guaranteed for years to come. Also they are nicely branching out into other uses for interactive 3d and I think they have the right direction in integrating things such as their own advertising platform into their mobile games. In short: as long as I can remember they have been a great game engine. Now they are, in my opinion, transforming from "just a game engine" into a more full service software company targeting not only the gaming industry but pretty much anyone who can benefit from interactive 3d.

It's expensive, but I feel like the future potential is well worth it.

No earnings No PE. Not the kind of company I want to be at the highs of a market  Big Grin

But they do have a bright future ahead of them. GL

I also took a new position in PXD thanks to the secondary at $153

I needed to add another name in the sector to go along with CVX and EOG

now the only other sector I'm underweight in is leisure  Big Grin
Dude I am a charter member of ENPH.  I made a few hundred a month the past year selling short puts while it ran.  I have a few short puts that are WAY in the money after this bloodbath.  I can only roll forward so much before I own $140 shares.   Big Grin  I said here many times I was good with adding a real position starting at $125.  If I am honest I need ENPH to head back to $120ish to be back to even.  I wasn;t aggressive enough when it was truly cheap.  I'll add shares to my growthy port in the meantime.

Yeah yeah. What ever floats your boat  Big Grin lol
I am very good with owning ENPH long-term.  How happy I am in the end very much depends on the entry.  We'll see where the bottom is soon enough.

Well me too. Got in at $108.90  Big Grin

This will be a big winner for years to come.  You have to add at some point, so why not today. I don't worry about making a few $ here and there  Big Grin . I'm in to win it lol

Are we having fun today  Big Grin

I agree you don't want too much of the no earnings stuff right now.  I am going to try to keep it less than 5% of my port for the foreseeable future.  Unity does look like a decent holding.  Wish my crystal ball was working better ten years ago because software has really paid off.

RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 07-14-2021

Solar got hammered today. Added literally just a few shares here and there hoping for a bigger dip. It's starting to smell a lot like early spring for any thing spec at all.

I'm worried that if Kerim is out of touch, he may have stopped paying for the hosting fees too. Any day now we may lose the site Sad

This is an excellent point. If Eric still hasn't heard from him then I guess this isn't out of the question. I do hope he is alright. In any case, sooner or later we do need to figure this one out since new people are apparently unable to join and that is simply not ok in the long run.

Due to the fear of this website just disappearing one day, I've created a backup Discord channel just in case this website suddenly vanishes. Don't worry you old people, you don't even need to understand what Discord is.

I'll be clear, this is purely a BACKUP intended to allow communication should something happen to this website. I do not wish for us to move any of the conversation away from here at this moment.

This link is valid foreverhttps://discord.gg/f74yKtWg37
You don't even need to click that or anything, just SAVE it somewhere on your computer. If something happens to this website, you just throw that link into your browser and it'll take you to our backup channel. At that point you may or may not need to register with discord.

I'll also throw the info above into a separate post so everyone can see it.

Thanks, awesome. I use Discord all the time. Hopefully we won't need it, but I've been on forums that disappeared before. I hope Covid didn't get Kerim ... Sad

RE: What Did You Buy Today? - EricL - 07-15-2021

I do have a forum on my website, but I'd probably need to do a little work to get things set up like here.

So far, I'm the only person to ever post on it! =)
