Hi Guru, I'd really love to understand what you mean about "tax selling elves" and "love this time of year". What's special about Thanksgiving week?

Just "Christmas Lingo" lol
And I just mean a lot were selling the last 2 days for tax reasons and taking the losses to offset the gains. It happens every year during this holiday shortened Thanksgiving week.
This has always been my favorite week to buy on weakness in the market. And we are getting some great buying opportunities in the tech sector.
This is not company specific but sector wide through the tech sector.

Too many people, too many times focus only on entry of a position. A strategy, in this case dividend yield range, must have reasons for entry, for holding and lastly for liquidating the position.
Buy at the high end of the yield range, i.e 2.9% for HD, hold through the meat of the move and lighten up or liquidate at the low end of the range (1.0%).
Takes the emotion and angst out of the investment.
Good luck to all.

That sounds good until you sell all the great DGI stocks like AAPL, MSFT and HD out of your portfolio years ago and maybe pay taxes. That said it wouldn't be a bad way to manage overvalued slow growth Aristocrats. I just use covered calls to trim but I have to wait until they really are frothy or I get the same bad result. I don't worry too much if I lose at least half the stocks in my port because I can get them back soon enough. I do worry more about an entry at a reasonable or cheap price. I'll trim in a rational manner if I am so fortunate for them to get overvalued.

Happens at year end as well. You have to be out 30 days to book the loss. If you do it now you could get back in during 2021 if you wish. If it works out you could qualify for long term cap gains in 2022.
If I am scared my stock will run I buy something similar for the 30 days since sectors mostly run together. V and MA for instance. Or maybe two chip stocks dependent on AAPL. Nothing is foolproof but I hate taxes.

Bought GPS. I have been out of this name since $32. Supply chain hitting all retail. But temporary. At $18 I feel comfortable owling it.

Not buying it (yet) but a friend brought this ticker to my attention. SBLK, Star Bulk Carriers. Has anyone done any homework on it?

Up 10% today and a 25% dividend yield and an extremely low PE. What could possibly go wrong?
I'm just kidding. Never heard of it but I will research it before Friday. Looks like it moves around a bit.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I met up with a friend last night who works at VCRA Vocera Communications. They are a medical device company. They are doing extremely well, and the stock is up 42% year to date. They do not offer a dividend, but I thought I'd mention it.
