Fear and Greed Index
#1
There is a handy technical market barometer that anyone can easily use, the Fear and Greed Index. http://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/

If I am looking for a good price point on a stock, this is one of the technical indicators I use, along with RSI as mentioned in another thread.

Readings below 20 are pretty good market timing indicators.

Interesting. I like the concept, but am not sure how the underlying algorithm is constructed so will watch it for a bit to see how accurate it is. Thanks for the tip!

I think it would be more useful if one could overlay it with a market average. As it is, one has to make a bit of a guess to see how accurate it has been historically.

The index constituents are on the same web page. I think it is most interesting that the spread between junk bonds and investment grade bonds continues to drop.
