Last night I finished a big update to the DGI For The DIY site by adding a section on the Dividend Growth 50. The DG50 was a project by Mike Nadel that asked ten authors from Seeking Alpha (myself included) to select their best 50 "all-occasion" DGI companies for today's market. Mike then took those picks, invested $25,000 of his own retirement savings into them, and turned them into his new version of the Dividend Growth "Nifty Fifty". He now regularly provides updates on this portfolio and documents its progress.
I've been wanting to add more permanent content to the site for some time, and after talking things through with Mike, felt this would be a good project to highlight and introduce to more readers. I think the premise behind Mike's work was an excellent idea, and am thankful he asked me to participate in it as one of the collaborators.
With this web page my goal is to explain the history of the project and its progress to date, and to show the effectiveness of creating a diversified portfolio of high-quality dividend growth companies for new investors. I will continue to add links to Mike's articles as they are published, and think this should be a nice resource for dividend growth investors looking for ideas on building their own portfolios.
