Loosing everything? What was he doing? Buying on margin with money he didn't have to begin with? If he was, then he wasn't investing, he was gambling and shame on him.
And if you did your "DD" and came to the conclusion that it was worth your hard earned dollars at $120 then seeing others lucky to be buying at the current mid 80's price range, then why not average down?
