Not just you -- it is real! Not sure why that would happen, but I will explore. I hope it is something simple, like perhaps there are some settings that were switched to default with the update that I need to turn back on to make it a little less simple for the spammers.

Just a minute ago, I changed a setting such that new users will no longer be able to post until I've affirmatively activated their account. This is not an ideal approach, but should (I hope!) eliminate most of the spam until I get get better solutions in place.

Sorry again for all of the turbulence with the update!

I think that's a good idea, Kerim.  There's been more spammers lately.
