KMI, KMP, KMR, and EPB are to be merged into KMI. No more MLP, will be entirely a C corporation paying qualified dividends.

Press release: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtm...&highlight=

Presentation: http://www.kindermorgan.com/investor/pre...tation.pdf

Looks like KMI will become a dividend growth machine.

If you have questions about the tax consequences of the exchanges, look at slides 11, 12, and 13 of the presentation. The KMR exchange is non-taxable, the KMP and EPB exchanges are taxable.

Ive owned KMI for a year and wish I had more share than I currently own. I had a look at it last week and was tempted to buy some but passed on it. Now the stock is up 20% pre-market. Oh well...I will wait for the initial excitement to die before I add more.

I love the fact that the company makes it so clear on what the dividend increases will look like. 16% up in 2015 and target of increasing by 10% each year from 2016 to 2020. Go Kinder!

Sold out of my Lorillard this morning and picked up some KMI with the proceeds at $37.75.

I'll take a projected 5.3% yield with an expected 10% growth rate on the dividend over the next 6 years.

Congrats to longs. I don't own any KMI, but I hope to someday soon. It appears management et al, are committed to building shareholder value for decades to come!

Have held KMP about a year and couldn't believe the news I read at 5:30 a.m. CST. Kicking myself for not buying more pre-opening today. Oh well, and so it goes.

I was expecting to hold KMR 'forever', not paying any taxes unless I decide to sell some shares, and maybe pass it on to my heirs with a very healthy step up. So much for well made plans.

However, I think this change will make KMI a much stronger company, and in the long run the benefit will flow to me in the form of growing qualified dividends. Just not entirely in the form that I was expecting.

This is a good illustration of the fact that you cannot set your portfolio on autopilot and expect it to perform flawlessly, no matter your age or the stage of your life.
