Has anyone taken a close look at Blackstone Group LP (BX)? Why is the dividend so high (11%)?!

I've looked before. They pay a variable dividend of like 40% EPS each quarter so it's highly variable. Lots of other fish in the sea for me.

I've also looked. Can't remember why I didn't bite back in the day but there must have been a reason for it.

An interesting article at Seeking Alpha (Blackstone: Despite The Risks It Looks Considerably Cheap) says that many of their income sources are risky (emerging markets and real estate). Looks like this is a stock for your play money.
