I haven't researched it.  Hadn't heard of it until you and Otter were discussing it last week.  I am trying to not add too many more new names.  We'll see how long that lasts.  Smile

What I need is for tech to get hammered for real again, but this market is resilient.

Very small trades this morning.  Added a few shares to DG-ARKF  Sold a few SLV puts.

I took the NAIL proceeds and sprinkled it around to the other triples which were all on sale today (TECL, TQQQ, SPXL, RETL, etc.).  I also bought more CSCO and CURE (the only triple which is still rising, because it is 10% JNJ).

Question. Just curious why you buy everything in the same sector or sector like? These type of etf's are all up too much, and the market will soon price them right. As of now was over valued. One big correction and these will get whopped

I thought you learned your lesson on MARA  Big Grin

And no I'm no attacking you lol. All these investors expect a triple from here when they already tripled lol. No one is happy with 5% anymore. Everyone expects 100-200 percent lol

My buying is to buy stocks when there out of favor and leave the high flyers alone. These high flyers are going to get hit hard in the coming months.

I'm already short on 8 names and that list is growing....

TECL and TQQQ are the same sector, different weighting on mostly the same stocks (Apple, Microsoft, etc.).  SPXL is the S&P 500 tripled.  RETL is the retail sector (Gamestop, 1-800-Flowers, etc.), CURE is pharmaceuticals, DFEN is the defense sector (Lockheed Martin, etc.).  I like to think I'm buying different sectors.

The lesson with MARA was I threw money at a stock my ex-sister-in-law said was hot.

But after two days of losses, I'm hopefully buying at a discount.  Also, I think we are entering a choppy period but not an overall end to the bull market, so triples should still do well.  Also most of my high yielders are doing well, even HRZN is back up today.

Stop with the attacking on poor ken-do-nim lol. But I do agree with you on the buying spree of ETF's  Big Grin

I would much rather just put it all in SOXL. And forget the rest lol. At least you get a small dip here. I actually bought 200 shares just now only because it holds AVGO and NVDA. And both names I love.

BTW what did you do with MARA. Still hold or did you cut your losses?

RE: What Did You Buy Today? - ken-do-nim - 04-20-2021

Eh no worries I can take it. Even despite the mid-Feb to mid-March nasdaq dip I ended each month with a profit; I expect April will still look good overall. It's not the journey it's the destination, or something like that. And my taxable account strategy has a certain percentage for 3x ETFs, a certain percentage for high yielders, and a certain percentage for dgi stocks. However the 3x ETFs are restricted to only the ones that can stay untouched for a long time like SOXL SPXL WEBL and TECL.

I cut ties with JNJ, LLY, LABU, MARA, HIBL, and NAIL in the past couple of weeks. NAIL is the only one of those that I will be eager to get back into when the smoke clears. But it is true that Lowes, Home Depot, and Sherwin Williams who it is based on are probably too high at this point, so they may need to cool down before NAIL is lucrative again. I'm not opposed to getting back into JNJ, but at this point with CURE doing so well, I'd prefer to focus on that. I read an article back in 2017 that the best triple leveraged fund for the long term is in fact CURE.

RETL is as risky as they come. Don't bet on GME.  lol

Did you look at the holdings? They own treasury and cash as there top holdings and PLCE which is in trouble and SIG which was neatly bankrupt and has run up for new reason to over $60 a share. Mine as well just buy SPY and stay away from the risk factor. This ETF could go under $100 real fast  Big Grin

If the market corrects let say even 5-10 from here. These 3x ETFS will get hit very hard. But if the market rally's here then sure you can strike it rich lol. Just too much of a risk with the market being at or near an all time high.

just be careful  Big Grin

RE: What Did You Buy Today? - ken-do-nim - 04-20-2021

Yes absolutely RETL is on death watch status it is right near my price cut-off. So is DFEN though I am less worried about that one. Don't worry I won't go down with the ship I learned my lesson on that.

SOXL has actually dipped below my price cut-off but I trust it more.

RE: What Did You Buy Today? - NilesMike - 04-20-2021

Buying high and selling higher is not bad. It's just different than buying low and selling high. Sometimes breakouts fail and sometimes you catch a falling knife. Same difference.

NFLX getting creamed after earnings. Down $62. Subscriber miss. This has to be good news for the other providers..

I want to buy back soxl as well. May be we get to see below $33? Lol

RE: What Did You Buy Today? - ken-do-nim - 04-20-2021

Yay, love of triples is spreading!

SOXL is great but it's actually at the same price it was on January 15th, so it's not had a great 2021 yet.

It's not something I do often but its worked well 75% of the time for years.  Worked better than my bottom fishing on average.  I just feel a little safer buying lower valuation.

I've been waiting for the overall market to dip a few weeks then I am definitely adding some SOXL to my SOXX.  Chips aren't exactly cheap and was hoping we might get something that looks like a bottom.  You really can't guess until the market takes a few weeks off from being euphoric.  I sell SOXL puts now but it's just some safish income.  Nothing like being long on a hot triple.

This is looking like an excellent trade so far!
I also managed to grab some VXX options... indeed as Binary said, we can still trade the VXX options.

Think about that though. How amazing our regulatory systems are. We aren't allowed to touch US ETFs or similar. (official reasoning, I believe, is because they don't provide the prospectus in our native language.... but obviously the real reason is that everyone was pouring money into them instead of similar products managed by European banks because the US ones just had lower fees)

But we are allowed to trade options on those same underlying ETFs and similar. As if that would somehow be less risky than actually owning the underlying asset.

So far so good. Will need another leg down. My exit is 13.50+ for 45% on the trade if it gets there.
