McDonalds Ketchup Tiff? - TomK - 10-25-2013

News is reporting that McDonalds will be switching ketchup suppliers. Apparently they are no longer going to use Heinz because Heinz will now be run by the former head of Burger King, Bernardo Hees.

This strikes me as a little silly. The move does not turn Heinz into a competitor of McDonalds. Or perhaps MCD is afraid that since Hees still sits on the board at BK that he'll feed BK commercially sensitive information about MCD's ketchup orders?

Is this a reasonable move, or a sign that management over at MCD is focused on silly stuff?
