TQQQ - how about that Smile To be honest, I probably wouldn't buy it if I were close to retiring but if you have say 5% of your port set aside for fun, then it's okay. I will always prefer TECL to TQQQ but I have both.

AMD - I haven't bought either INTC or AMD for a reason; they wax & wane against each other hence I prefer just owning them as part of the index (SOXX & SOXL).

JEPI - It's certainly been a good buy so far, though last year I flipped it for RYLD with its higher yield which I just flipped for XYLD after they missed the December payment, and the latter is practically a mirror of JEPI anyway lol. I plan to exit all of the covered call ETFs once I no longer need the income, which should come by September.

SBUX - I might go back but for right now HAS is my sentimental stock and it has a better dividend by far.

MRNA - <shudder> You trying to give me nightmares? Smile To be honest, if I have cash on hand and it does hit $150 I'd probably get back in.

T - I'm getting more & more interested in the spinoff company. Talks are in place to centralize HBOMax, Discovery Plus, and Paramount+ into one streaming service to rival Netflix. Yesterday I cashed out of the obscure NREF and dived back in.

BX - That's where my next batch of money is going too. Plus I might be adding Old Republic & Abbott Labs to my target list; this thread is great for ideas.

I only have a couple shares of TQQQ. It would take a big dip before I bought more than that. I know the charts support holding the past decade but they are intended for short term trading. The derivatives will eat you alive in suffering market. I only hold a few stocks I am not comfortable with holding and forgetting. Well short of 5% combined.

I am just making sure I have a reasonable amount of tech from now on. It was a mistake to own practically none. Glad I only did that for a few years. I did own some but I would get a 10% gain and run.

Unless futures change it looks like another "tech buying opportunity" at the open. Glad I started slow as I might have to buy another 20 times to catch the bottom lol.

As I said in another thread, these angry waves last for 2 weeks. Maybe I shouldn't look at my accounts this week.

Don't make me call you an investing sissy.  You invest with your hair on fire, and then want to hide in the closet when the hard part comes.  Will you be back to brag the next week when the sky is clear?  How are you going to learn to be better prepared for the next cycle if you only show for the good part?

My solar is getting murdered.  I'll have to eat it and figure out if it's worthy of any more investment.  This investing game isn't easy and it never has been.  Just take your lumps.  We all hate it when it doesn't go well.

Finally sold my T after 8 years. Had enough lol
Nobody can say you weren't patient.  I've held a few dogs for decades but two years is about the max these days before I try to slap myself out of denial.

If I have the good fortune to reach a new ATH prior to new money coming into the account, you are damn right I will celebrate.  But I don't think not looking counts as a negative; it is a strategy that allows me to stay the course and not panic sell.  We both know I'll look anyway.  Big Grin

I haven't even started yet!
And while I do expect a bounce soon, I'm in this for the long-term and I am in no hurry to start buying tech.

MSFT is one of those tech plays that I want to own. It's still +40% YoY.  Smile

I just nibble slow most all the time because I don't know if tech bottom is October 2023 or later this morning. Smile

I am getting this feeling the only way you make money in the near future is if you take a little profit on the rips and get it right more often than wrong. This earnings season is likely to be more exciting than usual.

It's on my list too but I doubt I would buy more than a share or two up here.  I already took MSFT for a 15 yr sideways ride.
It's definitely not the same company now but there is no margin for error up here.  I don't expect it to happen real soon but mediocre earnings guidance would be very painful for the whole sector.

Bought some QQQ this morning. Back when I was a little euphoric over the dividend thing I bought some DGI/income stocks in side accounts where they really didn't fit - places where I wouldn't use dividends to live on. This was from selling MO at $50.25 in my HSA.

Don't look Ethyl!  Too late....     Big Grin

You may be just a couple years too young to understand that reference.

Added a bit of QQQ and a single share of FB so far this morning  Have a few more limit orders in.  Anything tech with poor cashflow still looks poisonous.

RE: What I Am Buying Today. - rnsmth - 01-10-2022

Buys - RY and NIE

Brought RY up to a .62 weight position with the NIE special dividend received over the weekend.

Had a bit left over and, looking at things - NIE just increased their regular distribution by 32%, and gave that nice special dividend, so I picked up a few more shares. It is now a 3/4 weight position. I would not call this a position building decision, I would call it tossing some spare change at NIE. That may happen again.
