Media Hysterics - TomK - 09-16-2013 Wasn't really sure where to put this post about a pet peeve. I know this has been said a thousand times, but I get so annoyed with media descriptions of market action. Sure, today's open is a nice healthy upside move, but a 1 percent increase is not "soaring." Similarly, when the markets are down 1 percent, shares are not "plunging." 1 percent moves are not that uncommon, and they are often offset quickly by similar moves in the opposite direction. I am getting sick of all the artificial "soaring" and "plunging"! RE: Media Hysterics - Horace Cugle - 09-16-2013 I'm with you on that Tom and it's why I keep the TV off most of the day. The guys on CNBC are calling the market like it's a horse race, second-by-second updates, stupid stats like "the market has been up every Tuesday since May". Forget all the drama, just gimme the beef. |
