ACE/CHUBB - rayray - 04-19-2016 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-trty/swiss.pdf https://www.world.tax/countries/switzerland/switzerland-tax-system.php Throughout the Internet I've read a lot about Switzerland's 35% tax on dividends and quite a few DGI's dumped CHUBB after the ACE merger. I posted the above links that are mostly directed towards U.S. investors, the second link might clarify question marks for any resident of any country, maybe. I'll add the links are not exactly easy reads but worth a glance if one is interested or was interested in CHUBB, specifically post merger as an U.S. investor. As of right now, due to U.S./Switzerland's laws and treaties I receive the full .67 dividend per share from CHUBB stock that is held in my ROTH IRA. Please remember, it's beneficial in doing your own due diligence. RE: ACE/CHUBB - DividendGarden - 04-20-2016 I think I understand what you're saying. I do own some UK companies within IRA's, such as BP, RDS.b, etc. I receive the full dividend and you can use the US tax system for paying taxes on the dividends received, but obviously there are no taxes due because they are tax-sheltered. |
