DE - DividendGarden - 02-19-2016 John Deere (DE) posted 1Q earnings: http://seekingalpha.com/pr/16241056-deere-announces-first-quarter-earnings-254-million In their earnings release, it showed that their shares outstanding declined year over year by over 8%! That's huge! Also, Warren Buffett recently added to his DE stake: http://seekingalpha.com/news/3118546-buffett-ups-stake-deere Curious what everyone's thoughts are on DE. I like it for the long term, especially as quickly as they are retiring shares. This is a cyclical company, and I'm glad they are increasing their buyback these past couple of years (They really increased it a lot 2014 & 2015) as they are in the trough of their cycle. That's an intelligent allocation of capital on behalf of shareholders. RE: DE - ChadR - 02-19-2016 I like the company. It's been on my watch list for a while now, but just have never purchased it. I do like that they retired a lot of stock while the prices are down. RE: DE - EricL - 02-19-2016 It is a well-run company that is struggling with the current downside of the ag cycle. It may be a while yet before you see it turn, but as you guys said, it's great to see management taking advantage of the low prices to retire a bunch of shares. |
