I'll call it a win if we are much over 50% later this year.
This year bro. Stop being so negative all the time No one is going to be wearing a mask come June. Its over. You can craw out from under your rock now and join us all in the sunlight lol.
I worked retail so no stay at home or rocks to hide under for me. I suspect some red states are going to mini-surge themselves. Hopefully I am wrong. Some of my Trumper buds are quietly getting vaxxed one by one while they shout freedom on social media so there is hope. And I am not the one that cashed out so don't lecture me on negative lol. Join the ENPH club lolDude I am a charter member of ENPH. I made a few hundred a month the past year selling short puts while it ran. I have a few short puts that are WAY in the money after this bloodbath. I can only roll forward so much before I own $140 shares. I said here many times I was good with adding a real position starting at $125. If I am honest I need ENPH to head back to $120ish to be back to even. I wasn;t aggressive enough when it was truly cheap. I'll add shares to my growthy port in the meantime. (05-17-2021, 07:56 AM)fenders53 Wrote: Here's a prediction. HD and LOW will announce a good quarter this week, perhaps peak for this cycle. Spring = Christmas compared to other big box retailers. Absolutely brutal comps going forward and 5% growth for a year looks a little light for the current PE. We shall see but I say down for the week, and probably sideways at best six months from today.. Today's Price mark HD 323 LOW 199 today. I'll try to remember to drag this up at the end of the year whether I am right or wrong.Well that started coming true literally 20 minutes after I posted it. It's not a big secret they usually pull back after earnings. They are just getting an early start I guess. I'll be back in HD eventually but this looks like a less than optimal time to buy. I just think people want to do things a little more exciting than painting the kitchen for the next few quarters. Lumber prices are discouraging some of the typical spring out door DIY projects. You need to win the lotto to build a large deck. Lumber is the lowest margin Dept in the store so not an earthshaking effect on HD or LOW. Still awesome companies longterm. Added a few shares of GNRC again today. Hurricane season will be here soon so I need to add some every down day. Not bold enough to sell a new put as it isn't exactly cheap enough to be diving in 100 shares worth if the market turns south. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - ken-do-nim - 05-17-2021 I agree about AirBnB being the way of the future, but I haven't had a chance to pick up any yet. Another crappy day, but at least Seagate continues to be far & away my best acquisition. Seems like a very workable concept although I don't know the Mother Ship's corporate finances. I assume they have significant debt? I've said this before but it was a weird experience when I did it last year for the first time. Had a wonderful host but it felt odd living in their downstairs for 2 or 3 nights. It was nicer than my home. Definitely nicer accommodations than I would have gotten in a small town motel at 20% more cost. My wife made me clean up better than as if we were at home lol. So I paid like $16/day clean up and I was actually the unpaid maid. All they really needed to do was change the sheets for the next guest when we left. I'd go back there, because I know the host was nice and non-intrusive. In the end I think AirBnB does OK longterm. No idea if it's the investment opportunity of a lifetime or not. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 05-17-2021 Any recommendations for a finance sector pick for a swing trade I shouldn't be afraid to hold longer if necessary? That part is a requirement. I played with SQ on the volatility and made money but it looks like it has some downside risk for now. Sold my V and MA on the last spike. They are my go to on the next market dip if I don't get a better suggestion. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - ken-do-nim - 05-17-2021 Also, much as eBay originally filled an important niche on the internet but now has stiff competition from many other on-line retail websites that allow people to sell their own stuff, or the Uber/Lyft example, I'm sure AirBnB will face similar challengers. I thought they might take over the world back then. I sold so much stuff 20 years ago. It was the perfect forum for a side gig business, or a great place for hobbyists to exchange stuff. They got greedy, bought PayPal for a few years and stacked fees. Ran everyone off that wasn't selling high volume drop ship low quality crap goods. Every few years there is a new freeish forum to sell stuff. I don't think AirBnB has clear sailing necessarily, but if you are the biggest first mover you do have a chance. If fees turn total price into nothing but a 10% off a regular hotel deal it's not going to work out.
I truly hope to be wrong but I think arrogance is going to bite us one more time in some states, and it won;t be too long. We aren't as a nation vaxxed quite good enough and most who are willing are vaxxed already. The young will survive their foolishness and some of the the old and stubborn will be taken out by Darwin. As much as I hate masks in the summer I am glad HD will enforce it awhile longer. My guess is 70% of associates are not vaxxed. I suspect they will make us all wear masks until the majority complies. We'll see. Just want it to be over. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - ken-do-nim - 05-17-2021 I know way too many people unwilling to be vaccinated yet. Two elderly people in my not immediate family have died after contracting Covid. I got vaxxed as soon as possible. After a 30+yr military career I have been vaxxed against every jungle crud on the planet so I'm numb to all decades ago. I understand why others were hesitant as it was rushed. That was 100s of millions of doses ago now. It's as tested as a vax gets now. My wife is an ant-vaxxer. She spends too much time on youtube. I just told her I am putting in for vacation time off tonight. She can get vaxxed and we'll go hang out in the public venues she loves. If not, I'll just go camping and she can come along if she likes. If you never hear from me again that's what happened lol. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - crimsonghost747 - 05-17-2021 So a bit regarding the T deal. From what I understand. T will do the spin-off thingy and create a separate company, let's call it WarnerMedia. Then T will distribute the shares of WarnerMedia as a dividend to T shareholders. Then, immediately, WarnerMedia will merge with Discovery. T will also get some $40B or so of cash and stuff. There will be two individual companies remaining, and from what I gather they will have little to no ties with each other. There will be T. Which will be right back to the dog house. Zero growth, still a massive debt pile, and a history of yet another acquisition that did not work out as intended. T will be dead money. There is also the chance that the dividend cut will be large, and then it'll absolutely crater and not even Indiana Jones will be able to find T from the bottom of it's 25 year low. Then there will be whatever WarnerMedia + Discovery will be called. This will all depend on the valuation, but it'll be an interesting company to watch. I want nothing to do with T once they kick out HBO max etc. That was their growth pillar. That was the thing that was going to increase EPS and one day in the future provide for a dividend increase larger than $0.01. I already sold half of my T position. Most of the proceeds went into ATCO (the canadian utility company) and ERES reit (also canadian, though the real estate they invest in is in Europe). I'll keep a close eye on the remaining T shares while I try to decide what to do. |
