I expect other major retailers will follow AMZN in the fight to not have their profits skimmed so much. PayPal is on the hit list too with their high fees. I do think it is about priced in now. Anyone who bought the top may waiting a long while for those shares to be back to even. Nah your way off lol. There are a million credit cards that offer low, low fees and they all get processed through Visa or Mastercard. Looks around and you will see. Tons less then 1.5% These people who use buy it now will be paying like $50 fee on $300 product. What's so great about that lol Cramer talking his BS as well on TV And PayPal you pay no fees. You pay if you have it in your account. Just like cash No fees on Venmo as well RE: What I Am Buying Today. - fenders53 - 11-18-2021 (11-18-2021, 07:06 PM)Mr1share Wrote:Don't think I am way off. Vendors pay the fees. It's not a free service. Feel free to post a link where nobody pays fees and they post big profits. The few hundred times I sold anything and accepted PayPal payment the fees were subtracted and it was about 3%. Maybe it has changed but I am skeptical. If AMZN wasn't getting hit they wouldn't be bitching. There may be a reason V and MA stocks are feeling the pressure. Because transaction charges are headed to sub 1% is my guess.(11-18-2021, 06:46 PM)fenders53 Wrote:(11-18-2021, 06:23 PM)Mr1share Wrote: This buy it now pay later is a bunch of BS. Anyone who bought the top may waiting a long while for those shares to be back to even. Let me help you both understand this lol First PayPal is no longer on Ebay Fenders so no more transaction fees from selling stuff lol. But as a small business owner like myself I use both Paypal and Square. Each charges a transaction fee for 2.9%. But if you want to send money from your paypal account to someone there are no fees if you send to a friend and family option. Make sense? Paypal Venmo there are no fees if you send payment from your checking account. However, if you send payment to someone with the debit/credit card there is a 1.5% charge. V and MA have been around forever and will be around for 100 + more years. They will figure it and do acquisitions to adapt to changes. And 1.5% won’t ever happen. This is not Etrade where they offer free trades or free interest lol. Etrade and other brokerages do this because they make a percentage on each sale. through order flow and through interest on the free float. Etrade earns interest on customer funds by investing them in money market funds. Additionally, they profit when users borrow margin from Etrade to buy or short stocks. So, this is why these brokerages can get away from free trades. Credit cards are totally different. Let’s not forget every bank that offers credit cards is going through Visa or Mastercard. These buy now pay later companies are hot right now. But the industry will become crowded soon enough. Do you know Affirm will charge you a whopping 18.5% if you don't pay on time?? Hefty fines right there lol. And the default rate is going to go up and up and people live beyond their means. We've seen it before. I will never use this option, and I bet the baby boomers wont either. This is more for teenagers or young adults who live off paycheck to paycheck and want to take advantage of no fees to pay off an item. But these purchases will be for low ticket items. Everything I buy is with either my debit card, Amazon prime card or my business card. All I pay off within a week or 2. So I never have to worry about fees . There are room for all companies but the traditional way to pay will always win out. Once again, the market is pumping these type companies like they always do only to see them get crushed later. To me V and MA represents great buys on these big dips. Anyone who bought the top may waiting a long while for those shares to be back to even. And I got news for you Amazon needs Visa a lot more then V needs them. Amazon only did this to get a reaction out of them and to see if V would budge. V should just stick it to Amazon and raise the fees even more lol. And UK Amazon is such a small market for V and is no biggie to them. I mean its minute. Read the report. They still are using Visa in the US. And AMZN also said you can still purchase using your Visa debit in the UK. Did you see all the complaints from users in the UK. Vicious attacks on Amazon Big over reaction as always RE: What I Am Buying Today. - fenders53 - 11-19-2021 Electronic payments are going to evolve. V and MA will evolve with it to maintain the duopoly. Same with traditional banking. If your fees get too lucrative it will attract competition like always. Maybe there will be 25 ways to pay or transfer in 10 years. There are certainly many more than there were 10 years ago. Might grow then consolidate. That was why I think M&A is possible but I believe V has struggled with anti-trust on that. For the record I think the whole sector is a buy right now. The PEs are more reasonable, not that the market cares about that now. I'm sure they have new ways to make money I'm not even aware of, even if some fees do become more competitive. And people love their credit card rewards. There would be a mini-revolution if those went away. High fees on the merchants make those possible. RE: What I Am Buying Today. - rayray - 11-19-2021 Buy Now Pay Later is nothing new it’s the modern day version of Lay Away As a kid, I always remember how long the Lay Away lines were around Christmas time RE: What I Am Buying Today. - fenders53 - 11-19-2021 I think you get the stuff now is the difference. Sorta like 4 or six months same as cash and I am guessing weak credit score is OK. Sorta like 4 or six months same as cash and I am guessing weak credit score is OK. That's exactly correct. And they don't even check credit score lol This will be a recipe for disaster when those people cant pay and are charged a 18.% charge RE: What I Am Buying Today. - divmenow - 11-19-2021 Added EOG and new position in VLO Dipping slowly back into oil What I Am Buying Today. - vbin - 11-19-2021 Sold xle puts, bought oxy RE: What I Am Buying Today. - poneyboy - 11-19-2021 added TDOC, MU.
