It was never getting under $100. I added lots in that $107-108 range. It may dip again. Nothing to justify this rally today or the last 3 days lol And BTW I know we don’t talk politics here but lol. Never go by the polls lol. This election is an embarrassment. And it’s not about who wins for me. It’s about the influence the polls and the mail in ballots had and to the media and pollsters. Biden had an advantage of 70-30 there. And all those bogus pollsters about Trump having no chance influenced voters. Not a fair election at all. Just my opinion lol RE: What Did You Buy Today? - vbin - 11-04-2020 (11-04-2020, 12:59 PM)divmenow Wrote:Never say never, lol. If we are talking politics, the real tragedy of US politics will be Biden winning and god forbids something happens to him(old age and health), Kamala will be the first woman president of U.S. Wasn't Hillary way more qualified for the job? PS: I am neutral but if Trump would have either behaved well with women or handled corona well, he would have got the second term on a platter. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - crimsonghost747 - 11-04-2020 I know the election is the #1 subject for all sorts of talk today. And I do not mind you guys discussing it, not at all. But it would be more appropriate to keep it in it's own thread, even if this thread sometimes does double for a daily chat thread. I was definitely expecting some red instead of massive green. But I've been known to be horrible with timing! Added to some JNJ and my beloved ere-un.to anyway. More adds coming later this week / early next week. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 11-04-2020 (11-04-2020, 01:55 PM)vbin Wrote:And there you have it in one sentence. This should have been soooo easy. Biden is absolutely nothing remarkable at age 78. Decent enough human for a longtime politician, but that doesn't make you worthy of US president. Didn't agree with all of it, but IMO Trump attempted to make more change than anyone since maybe FDR, and he accomplished some of it. I'm sure I first voted conservative before most on this board were born. It was hard, but I couldn't support him. He is a complete ass hat lacking the the minimum of dignity I expect from perhaps the highest office holder on earth. I am weary of the idiotic tweets and unnecessary lies. He made the lection all about him, made his own bed, win or lose. I made plenty of money in the market when Clinton and Obama held the office. I'll do it again.(11-04-2020, 12:59 PM)divmenow Wrote:Never say never, lol. There was a huge YOLO style option bet on wallstreet for apple to go $105 or below. I was away from the market today. Are we rich yet? Crimsonghost. Politics are a pretty big deal here this week. I don't think it will be an ongoing problem. The other thread thingie doesn't work so well when only three or four of us post some days. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - crimsonghost747 - 11-05-2020 Added a bit of PEP. Honestly I wasn't expecting this sort of a rally but ohh well, these will all look cheap in 20-30 years. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 11-05-2020 (11-05-2020, 11:06 AM)crimsonghost747 Wrote: Added a bit of PEP.I've been trying to build a core position in PEP. I add a few shares and sell a put everytime it drops much below 135. Then it bounces and I wish I had bought more. The put premium is nice, but I'd make triple in a week if I just bought more shares. In my growthy port I added a whopping 5 shares of VSTO on the earning beat and stock dip at the open. Everything else in that port is flying so I'll have to wait a week or two I suppose. Nobody I know expected this rally. It's a bit much. In fact I have a few friends so scared of a Biden win that they sold a lot of stock last Thursday. FWIW the proposition of gridlock may be driving it some. It's my preferred arrangement for investing. I thought the Senate would almost certainly flip, and that looks unlikely. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - divmenow - 11-05-2020 I added to my BABA and HII positions. HII crushed it and raised the dividend to $1.14. This is a name you should all own right now lol I wont be buying anything new unless we get a big correction. I'm just added to the names I already own. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - crimsonghost747 - 11-05-2020 (11-05-2020, 12:23 PM)divmenow Wrote: I added to my BABA and HII positions. HII is indeed a very interesting name. And it has indeed slid down from the levels where I last took a look at it. They have some great years ahead of them, the cash flows for the next few years will be through the roof since they are just finishing up on their big investment cycle. (so capex will drop significantly for the next few years) RE: What Did You Buy Today? - crimsonghost747 - 11-05-2020 thanks for bringing HII up (once again) I had a look at it again and checked out some of the numbers from the earnings. looks good indeed. It also helps that your previous suggestion I bought (IIPR) is up 15% today. IIPR has been a beast. I'm not sure if I would like to hold HII forever, but the next few years should be good. I'm not too interested in picking up another defense stock though, so actually I ended up selling a HII put with the idea of just taking the premium and calling it a good trade. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - divmenow - 11-09-2020 (11-05-2020, 02:12 PM)crimsonghost747 Wrote: thanks for bringing HII up (once again) Anytime on IIPR. This thing may be up $20 today! Glad I added more in recent weeks. Those stay at home stocks are going to get hit here at the open today. PTON down $20 and ETSY down $15 in the pre-market. Meanwhile SIX is up 30 percent lol. Time to make some money on the put side. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 11-09-2020 (11-09-2020, 07:52 AM)divmenow Wrote:You and I haven't had our fun mocking the market pre-open since last spring when it would run higher on 5M new unemployment claims.(11-05-2020, 02:12 PM)crimsonghost747 Wrote: thanks for bringing HII up (once again) I'll be back later. I'm heading to CVS now so I can get that new PFE vaccine shot before breakfast. Seriously though I do hope it's true. 90% efficacy in world record time for a virus vaccine would be earth shakingly important for the markets.
