RE: What Did You Buy Today? - MikeWa - 05-08-2020 (05-08-2020, 10:55 AM)divmenow Wrote: Bought 50 shares of ED at $72.90. Got in right before the ex dividend date as well on 5/12. I bought ED for $72.86 this morning, which is interesting, because day low is reported as 72.88 :-) RE: What Did You Buy Today? - crimsonghost747 - 05-08-2020 (05-08-2020, 06:17 AM)fenders53 Wrote:(05-07-2020, 05:07 PM)crimsonghost747 Wrote: I've been looking at selling RTX puts too.I just spent about an hour on the quarterly. I'd definitely appreciate some feedback from you. If you don't feel like a thread please PM me. The Q1 financial reports include CARR and OTIS so not all that helpful as this is the first for RTX. The CC transcript was informative and alarming, and I am not just being my usual bear. After you review tell me what I got wrong. Here is what I gleened..... Well, I actually just skimmed through the report really fast. It was a bit of a mess with CARR and OTIS in there indeed and I already know the commercial air side of it will suck this year and not even their CEO has a crystal ball as to just how badly it will suck. So I just looked at MY BELOVED old pure defense Raytheon's numbers quickly. And the defense side is actually doing just fine. In fact better than fine. Revenue was up like 7% YoY and their book to bill was still around 1.5? Amazing if you ask me. Also don't worry about Saudi Arabia too much. Saudis are a big customer but nothing huge... I mean the whole international sales used to be like 45% of the total, and Saudis are just one of the many many many countries included in that. There are other pretty big spending oil countries on that list though so yeah the low price of oil could, on a longer term, lead to some decreased sales. I am really worried about the commercial air side of it though. It'll be a drag for a looong time. Even if Boeing can get the max certified and somehow delivered AND get their production back up it'll still be a while before they burn through the inventory. Also, pretty decent job with the LHX put. I've been eyeing it too. I don't think I'll be selling those RTN puts with that report and the subsequent increase in share price. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 05-08-2020 Thanks for the feedback Crimson. I live about an hour from Collins. Brother in-law actually a Collins retiree. I'll have to snoop around and find out if they are laying off. There was perhaps a subtle indication of things like that for the commercial side in the CC. Not sure I'm feeling a 100 share assignment of an expensive stock like LHX right now. I'd probably trim it back some as long as it was profitable. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - Otter - 05-11-2020 Bought some more LMT and UPS this morning. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 05-11-2020 Sold a T put at 28 strike. T is in my buy range now but always looking for a better deal when I add shares. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - divmenow - 05-11-2020 This is a tech, bio and drug and select retail driven market. Guess those are the names to be in when we come out of this huh lol I reshuffled my portfolio a bit today Bought some SBUX, NOC, BMY and AMGN Sold out of ROC, COR, TIF and YUM (I had these for years) Sold on valuation Banks look horrible. We may see WFC under $20 soon Fenders you buy ADP yet. You had your dip this morning RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 05-11-2020 (05-11-2020, 02:22 PM)divmenow Wrote: This is a tech, bio and drug and select retail driven market. Guess those are the names to be in when we come out of this huh lolHad to work today. Did I miss APD at last Thurdays price? And yes banks and other financials look weak. If I want to finish up a position the time will probably be here soon. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 05-12-2020 Not that anyone else was interested but we discussed it here so thought I would mention it. I have been watching FUN for a possible re-entry around 20 but I wanted a little more info. I happen to think they are well managed. They secured reasonable financing to carry their burn rate with closed parks all through 2021. (it won't be that bad). Now for the bad news. Debt covenant requires zero shareholder distributions until JAN 2022. I'm not THAT patient. FUN would have to get pretty cheap to entice me. To the back burner with that idea. I'm not sure this fact is well advertised. And the Luckin Coffee CEO and COO were fired after an internal investigation. I wonder what "fired" means after you embarrass the CCP? RE: What Did You Buy Today? - divmenow - 05-12-2020 added some cloud and cyber security names. I was very underweight in tech Bought some WORK, CRWD, PANW and a cloud ETF Just have to face the times where in. Tech is where the growth is. No one wants value anymore. I have plenty dividend stocks. But It took me a while to realize I have to mix in a few other kind of investments as well. I was very underweight in tech I agree and I am too late until the market gets a little bit sober. If I didn't also own indexes I would have completely missed out other than AMZN. The dividend chopping party is going to do harm to our DGI strategy for a good while IMO. Many of them have no choice, but those who cut unnecessarily are going to pay a price in the PE awarded to them going forward. Some of the aristocrats don't seem quite so over-valued now that it hit the fan. Do you mostly intend to trade those techs or make some of them core holdings? Either way is OK of course. I just find it helpful information since I follow you like Warren Buffett. RE: What Did You Buy Today? - fenders53 - 05-12-2020 Purchased a few more shares of WELL to round it up to 200 shares, so a decent sized position for my port. Sold another O put at strike 50 that expires Friday. I have this bad feeling I am walking into a REIT trap. Just trying to get into FRT and O for now. If I am going to get stuck it might as well be something I can ride out for years. The highish premium options I am selling keep expiring worthless so in the end I should have an OK basis if this goes bad. I half expect that outcome. Hopefully it's just the weaker REITs scaring the market into too good to be true premiums.
