It's a little better then that number, $74 900. However, I have a lot of questions and I'm sure the laws will change by the time I get to that point in 20 years. So, maybe I shouldn't even think about it--I'm talking about the retirement years.

According to 2015 tax rates: A retired married couple filing jointly making $74 900 or less will pay "ZERO" federal income taxes on QUALIFIED DIVIDENDS, as long as that couple receives no other income other then those Qualified Dividends.

This is where it gets better for that retired married couple receiving Qualified Dividends--DEDUCTIONS. Assuming, retired, filing jointly and receiving no other income other then Qualified Dividend Income they will pay zero Federal taxes on first $95 500.

Standard Deduction per couple and Personal Exemption per person

$12 600+$4000+$4000=$20 600

Then

$74 900+$20 600=$95 600

The problem is the OTHER income part? Then what happens?
