Here is a link to the book that first got me started in dividend growth investing. I've read it through once a few months ago and am currently reading it for the second time.

For anyone curious about how dividend growth investing works, this is a great resource. Lowell does an excellent job of explaining how it all works.

Great post, Eric. I've heard that book recommended before but have yet to give it a read.

Incidentally, sorry it took a while to get your post up. I was getting a lot of spam in the "off topic" forum and so set it to require approval before posting. I'll remove that for a while and see how it goes.

However, your post is not off topic at all. I've been thinking I should add a "Resources" sub-forum where we could post about books, websites, shows, etc. that provide valuable information about dividend growth investing.

What do you think?

Thanks again!
Kerim, I'd vote for the 'resources' sub forum - books, stock screening platforms, portfolio tracking tools, etc. It might be nice to have a 'welcome' sub forum, where new members can introduce themselves.
I agree that a resources forum, a "What I've Been Reading" section, or something similar would be a nice addition.
Ok, I've got this thread moved to kick off the new "resources" section. I think once we've got a few threads in here, we could add a sticky thread at the top that compiles the best of the best that many people agree on as excellent DG resources, such as the Lowell book, the Fish CCC lists, etc.

I also like your idea of a "welcome and introduce yourself" thread. I'll tinker with adding that to the top section, which I'd like to adjust soon.

Thanks both for the ideas -- please let me know if you have any other thoughts. I have a few that I will work on over time, but I am not an expert (yet) on the forum software.

Thanks!
I've written a book review and posted it on my blog. Check it out here (on http://dividenddream.blogspot.com).

Let me know what you think of it. Thanks! Smile

Eric, off of another thread I saw this book you recommended, I am working my way through the book and will have to re-read. Thanks for the info.
Also read your XOM-CVX article. Good timing as I am looking to start a new XOM or add to a CVX in one of my kids accts.

Jimbo,

Glad you found both the book and the article useful, you are most welcome.

Good luck with your XOM/CVX decision. I recently bought CVX for my son's ESA, hopefully it will help pay for a chunk of his school in 17 years!
I must say that this book is by far the most useful of all the investment books I have read. In particular, the general philosophy of dividend growth investing (quality, high dividend, high growth) corresponds well with what I have learned so far in my investing journey.
Ok, I finished round 1 of the book, great read in my opinion. Will go back now and reread it. One of the important things I got out of the book and I think is tough for new investors is to take a "eyes off on a regular basis approach", that is my new way of looking at my investments, not too concerned with a loss or a profit, it is a long haul and I have found much peace in the patience.
